The Ice Palace is a five-bedroom Victorian home in the heart of downtown Leadville, Colorado, sleeping up to 12 guests across three finished levels. Named after the world's largest palace of ice — built in Leadville in 1896 during the Lake County mining boom — this historic landmark blends original antiques and lavish Victorian detail with a fully updated kitchen, dishwasher, gas fireplace, and an indoor jetted tub for two. Five real bedrooms (three king beds, one queen, and three singles, including two trundles) and five bathrooms make this one of the most realistic group sleepers in town. Formal and informal sitting and dining rooms, a breakfast nook, and a full kitchen give travel parties of 8–12 room to spread out without stepping on each other. Wi-Fi and TVs in the main rooms and bedrooms keep everyone happy on a snowy night. Two blocks from Harrison Avenue's restaurants, breweries and shops, and a short walk to Ice Palace Park and the Mineral Belt Trail. Ski Cooper is about 25 minutes by car; Copper Mountain about 35. Managed by Traverse Hospitality — Superhost-rated, locally based, and family-friendly by default.

Our large group of kids and adults had an amazing time at Natasha’s place. Very comfortable home! Will probably try and book it again next year! She was also super helpful and responsive to any messages we sent. Highly recommend this home!

Leadville, Colorado, United States
Located in downtown Leadville's National Historic Landmark District, The Ice Palace puts you within a two-block walk of Harrison Avenue's restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and outfitters. The home sits across the street from Ice Palace Park, the actual 1896 site of the world's largest ice palace — the namesake feature that gave the home its name. The Mineral Belt Trail (11.6 miles, paved, open year-round for skiing, biking, and running) has its nearest trailhead a five-minute walk away. Leadville is the highest incorporated city in North America at 10,152 feet, surrounded by the Sawatch Range (including Mount Elbert and Mount Massive — Colorado's two tallest 14ers). Ski Cooper, the locals' favorite ski mountain, is about 25 minutes by car. Copper Mountain is 35 minutes, and the Vail/Beaver Creek complex is about 45 minutes. In summer, Twin Lakes (25 min) opens up fishing, boating, and the trailhead for Mount Elbert. Independence Pass to Aspen opens late spring through early fall. Within walking distance of the home: the Tabor Opera House (1879), the National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum, and Healy House Museum.
Free cancellation up to 14 days before check-in. Within 14 days, the reservation is non-refundable.

ALTITUDE — Leadville sits at 10,152 ft, the highest incorporated city in North America. Some guests experience altitude symptoms (headache, fatigue, mild nausea) the first 24 hours. Hydrate aggressively, take it easy on day one, skip alcohol the first night, and consider travel insurance if you're prone to altitude sickness — we cannot offer refunds for altitude-related issues.
NO A/C — Leadville stays cool year-round at 10,152 ft; A/C is not standard in any home here and is rarely needed. Summer nights drop to the 40s.
NO HOT TUB — The home has an indoor jetted tub for two (the "Jacuzzi" the title references), not an outdoor hot tub. If a hot tub is essential, ask us about other Traverse properties.
NO PETS — This is not a pet-friendly home.
PARKING — Free street parking generally fits ~2 cars directly in front. Leadville's Victorian-era streets are tight, especially in winter when snowbanks narrow them further. Park courteously and try not to block neighbors' shoveled spaces.
WILDLIFE — You may encounter local wildlife (foxes, deer) and the occasional small critter that's part of mountain living. Doors stay closed; we maintain ongoing pest control.
LICENSE — City of Leadville STR .
GUIDEBOOK — A digital guidebook with check-in info, restaurant recs, trail maps, and ski-day logistics is sent via email link the day before arrival. This is the only path to your check-in info, so please look for it.
