Great spot, easy to access off 82. Very quite and remote, exactly what you're looking for when staying up in Twin Lakes for a week. No tv on main level so you don't even think about it. It has a disc golf basket which was a fun perk - admittedly I didn't see it in the posting - and gave us something extra to do with the teenagers before dinner. In our week we: SUP/kayaked on twin lakes, hiked out to interlaken, hiked Mt Huron, went to Mt Princeton hot springs, and did dinner/day trips into Leadville and BV. And of course visited the Twin Lakes General Store. Spot was super convenient for those activities. Host was extremely responsive to questions around evacuation notices related to Willow Fire, fortunately vacation wasn't impacted by fires.

The property was easy to find and was clean. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet. We had just ended four days camping so it was a welcomed reprieve.

Communications with the host were a very stressful experience. We spent six days communicating with the host about canceling due to the ongoing and expanding wildfire situation and concerns about limited cell reception for emergency alerts. The host's lack of care and attention to the situation and desire to keep moving guests in to the area was quite shocking. family and friends who read the text chain were also shocked with the conduct. While the wildfires were outside the host’s control, the cancellation process was frustrating and lacked the flexibility we expected given the circumstances. Eventually they did the right thing and issued a refund at the last minute; but it cost us stress and two days lost of our vacation while we scrambled to book something else, which is what we wanted to avoid by communicating early. Looks like a cute cabin, but wouldn't reserve again based on this experience that put profit over people and the community of twin lakes/leadville during this time.

This is a beautiful, quiet retreat nestled in the woods above twin lakes. 10 minutes to twin lakes, 20 minutes to Leadville. An ideal place to unwind and kick back and escape the hustle and bustle!

Please remember you're staying in a cabin, not a hotel — we'll respond to issues quickly, but there's no one on-site 24/7.
Pets: Up to 2 well-behaved dogs with prior approval ($60 + tax for one and $120 + tax for two). Pick up after your dog. Free-roaming neighborhood dogs may visit the property.
Wildlife: Bear and mountain lion country. No trash or food outside. Lock your car at night — local bears can open car doors. Supervise small dogs and children outdoors.
Altitude: ~9,200 ft. Some guests experience dizziness or nausea. Travel insurance recommended. No refunds for altitude-related issues.
No trash service — pack out to dump stations in Leadville or Buena Vista.
No open fires or smoking anywhere on the property.
Alpine septic — flush only toilet paper. No grease or food scraps down the drain.
Winter: You may need to shovel a few inches of snow off the deck to reach the front door. Shovel and de-icer provided.
Families: Stairs to loft, unprotected loft railing, and wood-burning stove are potential hazards for young children. Please supervise.
