A three-bedroom loft on the top floor of Old St. Vincent's, an early-1900s Leadville hospital converted to condos, three blocks from Harrison Avenue in the historic downtown. Fourteen-foot ceilings, exposed brick, original wood floors, and tall windows framing Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive — Colorado's two highest peaks. Sleeps six across three bedrooms: one king and two queens, each behind a door that closes. One full bathroom with a soaking tub and a second half bathroom. Full kitchen with dishwasher, oven, electric stove, coffee maker, and cooking basics. Gas fireplace, dedicated workspace, room-darkening shades, keypad self check-in, free garage parking on site, and free washer and dryer in the building. Ski Cooper is 15 minutes up US-24 and Copper Mountain is 23 miles over Fremont Pass. The 11.6-mile paved Mineral Belt Trail loops around town for biking, running, and groomed Nordic skiing. Turquoise Lake, Twin Lakes, and the Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads are all short drives.

Cool historic place in a location that was easy to walk to the main drag downtown. Appreciated the off-street parking options. Stocked with some interesting books about local history, good base camp for a weekend and plenty of room for all 4 of us.

This loft was a fantastic base for our Leadville trip, with incredible views of Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive right from the unit. The place was spotless and well stocked with everything we needed. Chris was also super helpful, offering acclimatization hike suggestions ahead of our Huron Peak hike, which made a real difference in our prep. Everything was in perfect order from check-in to check-out, and the downtown location put restaurants and shops just a short walk away. Would definitely stay here again.

Leadville, Colorado, United States
The loft is in downtown Leadville, Colorado, three blocks from Harrison Avenue — the main street, lined with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, breweries, and outdoor outfitters. At 10,152 feet, Leadville is the highest incorporated city in North America, and the town's Victorian-era mining district is a National Historic Landmark. Within walking distance: Healy House Museum and Dexter Cabin, Ice Palace Park, the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum area, and FREIGHT — the converted train depot event and wedding venue directly next door. The Mineral Belt Trail, an 11.6-mile paved loop that circles the town past 1880s silver-mine ruins, has numerous trailheads in town; it is used for biking, running and walking in summer and is groomed for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking in winter. Nearby by car: Ski Cooper at Tennessee Pass is 15 minutes north on US-24. Copper Mountain is 23 miles over Fremont Pass. Vail is 44 miles. Turquoise Lake, the Twin Lakes, and the trailheads for Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive — the two highest peaks in Colorado — are all short drives from town. Leadville is 100 miles from Denver. Leadville also hosts the Leadville Race Series events in summer, and the historic Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad depot sits next to the building.

HEAT AND THE BUILDING This is a historic building with original windows and limited insulation, so the loft gets cold on winter days. We provide a gas fireplace, electric baseboard and wall-mounted heaters throughout, space heaters in the closets, and extra blankets. Guests who stayed in January reported staying warm using them — but come prepared for a cold building, not a new one.
There is no air conditioning. At 10,152 ft, Leadville nights cool off on their own.
The baseboard heaters get hot to the touch. If you're traveling with small children, please make sure they don't touch them.
BUILDING AND HOA RULES (Old Saint Vincent)
- This property is NOT pet friendly.
- Old St. Vincent's is a smoke-free building — including all unit balconies and all stairways and entryways.
- Parking is limited to two vehicles per unit. Additional vehicles must park on the street.
- No RVs, boats, or trailer campers may be parked in the parking lot.
ACCESS There is no elevator in this building — the loft is on the third floor and you will be walking up and down stairs. Worth planning for if you're arriving with an infant, small children, or a lot of luggage.
LONGER STAYS For stays longer than 15 days, a mid-stay cleaning is required and an additional cleaning charge applies; the amount is shown in your booking terms. It keeps the home comfortable and clean for the length of your stay.
ALTITUDE Altitude sickness is real. Leadville and Twin Lakes sit above 10,000 feet, and symptoms can include dizziness and nausea. Please plan for it. We can't offer refunds for guests affected by altitude, so if you think you may be, we recommend buying travel insurance when you book.
MOUNTAIN LIVING Staying in the mountains means being closer to nature, and you may occasionally encounter local wildlife, insects, or small critters. Please keep doors closed when you can. We've taken thorough measures to keep your stay undisturbed.
CHECK-IN INFORMATION You'll receive an email with a link to our digital guidebook. That link is the only place check-in information lives, and it's also where you can request extras and upgraded services.
