Elk Avenue is lined with independent restaurants (Secret Stash Pizza, Soupçon, The Dogwood), bars, galleries, and the Center for the Arts. Summer transforms the Upper East River Valley into one of Colorado's top mountain-biking and hiking destinations. Crested Butte is the state's designated Wildflower Capital — the Wildflower Festival runs every July.
