Crested Butte, Colorado, United States
Plaza 432 sits in the heart of Mt Crested Butte, Colorado, the ski village at the base of Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The building is a 4-minute walk to the Red Lady Express and Silver Queen chairlifts at CBMR, with direct base-area access to ski rentals, ski school, apres-ski bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. The Plaza at Woodcreek itself has an on-site restaurant and bar (Woodcreek) open to guests during peak season, so your first apres-ski stop doesn't require moving the car. The free Mountain Express town shuttle stops directly outside the building every 15 minutes from early morning to late evening during winter and runs 3 miles south to the historic town of Crested Butte (a 10-minute ride). Historic downtown Crested Butte is often called "the last great Colorado ski town" — an unspoiled Victorian main street, Elk Avenue, lined with independent restaurants (Secret Stash Pizza, Soupçon, Sunflower, Brick Oven Pizzeria, The Dogwood), bars, art galleries, the Crested Butte Museum, and the Center for the Arts. In summer, the Upper East River Valley becomes one of Colorado's premier mountain-biking, hiking, and wildflower destinations — Crested Butte is the officially designated Wildflower Capital of Colorado, and the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival runs every July. Key attractions within a short drive include the Red Lady Express chairlift (4-minute walk), Silver Queen lift base (4-minute walk), on-site Woodcreek Restaurant & Bar, the Butte & Co ski storage on-site, the Snodgrass trailhead (10-minute drive), the Gothic Road wildflower corridor (15-minute drive), the East River Valley (15-minute drive), Lake Irwin (25-minute drive, summer only), and Kebler Pass with its September aspens (30-minute drive, summer and fall only). Mt Crested Butte sits at 9,375 feet of elevation at the base and the lift summit tops out at over 12,000 feet — plan to hydrate well on day one.
