Crested Butte, Colorado, United States
Location: Grand Lodge Crested Butte occupies the Mt Crested Butte base village, adjacent to Red Lady Express lift (2-minute walk from Studio 107 to the lift line). The base village contains ski rental, retail, casual dining, an après bar, and scenic chairlift views. The Grand Lodge lobby and shared amenities (pool, hot tub, gym, steam room, fireplace lounge) serve as the social heart of the building. Downtown Historic Crested Butte: 3 miles north (6–8 minutes by car or free shuttle). Victorian storefronts house art galleries, restaurants from casual to fine dining, craft breweries, live music venues (strongest on weekends), and mountain-culture shops. The town square hosts farmers' markets in summer and seasonal festivals year-round. Dog-Friendly Trails & Patios: - Snodgrass Trail: leash-friendly hike from the base village (summer) - Lower Loop Trail: easy out-and-back, dog-welcome - Crested Butte Nordic Center: designated dog zones in winter - Many downtown CB restaurant patios are dog-welcoming in season (call ahead for confirmation) Nearby Attractions & Activities: - Red Lady Express lift (2 min walk): skiing, snowboarding, summer sightseeing chairlift rides - Kebler Pass scenic loop: 35-minute drive for aspen viewing (September peak) - Wildflower Trail network: hiking from town, late July through August peak bloom - Slate River Valley: mountain biking, trail running, easier hiking near historic Crested Butte - Gunnison River: fly-fishing, kayaking, whitewater rafting (summer) Airports: - Gunnison Valley Regional Airport (GUC): 30 miles, 40 min drive. Regional flights to Denver and Phoenix. - Denver International Airport (DEN): 230 miles, 3.5–4 hrs via I-70 and US-50. Major hub, lower airfare competition. Altitude & Climate: - Elevation: 9,375 ft (about 70% of sea-level oxygen; strong UV) - Winter: Nov–April, 30–45°F highs, regular snowfall (base depths 100–200 in.) - Summer: June–August, 60–75°F highs, cool nights (40s), afternoon thunderstorms possible - Spring & Fall: Unpredictable; layers essential Visitor Notes: First-time high-altitude visitors (and dogs) often feel mild fatigue or shortness of breath for 24–48 hours. Easy activity, hydration, and a good night's sleep resolve it quickly. The in-unit A/C helps on the rare warm summer afternoon.

Pet Policy: Up to 2 dogs welcome with a $50 flat pet fee per stay. The Grand Lodge HOA restricts pets to the 1st and 2nd floors only — Studio 107 (1st floor) is one of the few pet-friendly options at the base village. Ground-floor entry means no elevator with leashes and gear. Please leash dogs in common areas, clean up after them outdoors, and never leave dogs unattended in the unit.
Air Conditioning: Studio 107 has A/C — most Grand Lodge units do not. Mt Crested Butte stays cool at 9,375 ft (summer highs typically 60s–70s, nights in the 40s), but A/C handles the warmest summer afternoons.
White-Noise Machine: Provided in the unit. The 1st floor sits near the elevator and pool deck, where light noise can carry — the white-noise machine helps dogs and light sleepers settle in.
Housekeeping: No daily service (this is a vacation rental, not a hotel). Mid-stay turnover is available with 24 hours' advance notice at a $100 fee. Fresh towels and linens are provided at the start of each stay.
Grand Lodge Amenities — Management Note: The pool, hot tub, fitness center, and steam room are operated by a separate building management company, not by Traverse. Amenity schedules and maintenance closures are controlled by them. On rare occasions, an amenity may be temporarily closed for maintenance; we will communicate any known closures but cannot guarantee specific availability windows.
Altitude (9,375 ft): About 70% of sea-level oxygen, with strong UV. First-time high-altitude visitors may experience mild fatigue, headaches, or shortness of breath for the first 24–48 hours. Dogs adjust similarly — easy day one, water available, watch for unusual lethargy. Severe symptoms require descent or medical attention at Crested Butte Medical Center (10 min) or Gunnison Valley Hospital (40 min).
